Aren't glass knockoffs featured in the current Subway commercial for their new pizza product?

The commercial ends with some faux-glasshole pushing a button on his glasses and asking for directions to the nearest Subway.

Our local weatherman tried a pair of these the other night during the local news cast. I have no idea how they transfered the image so us TV viewers could see what he was seeing. But the video quality was horrible. Worse than the worst Youtube video. I love the term glasshole. That one I will have to remember.

With what we know about the NSA? Nope, I'm good.

They may be cool but lets be honest we all know what happens to glasses, they get dropped, stepped on, lost and many other things unless you can chain them to your skull its too risky to buy something like this for $1500.

Too true. But someone used to owning expensive Gucci, Prada, etc. glasses won't have a problem shelling out for something so exposed and breakable.

I'd buy them just to annoy all the people who hate them. However annoying the annoying isn't worth more than 5 bucks.

So I'll probably wait a good long time for both the price to come down (a lot) and the apps that make it worth it come out.

Just do what other people with that mentality due to annoy others and get a pungent e-cig. It'll irk people and it will only reduce you to the level of "dbag", which is several steps above "glasshole".

Just what we need...more Glassholes.

Too funny !

Perhaps I'm in the minority here.

I just don't see the usefulness of these.

Is it really *that* necessary to have a low res voice-activated HUD? It just seems like it'll be a horribly underpowered device with a short run time that'll make its owners look like douchebags. Are they *that* much more useful than smartphones?

I expect to see a lot of these at Santana Row and Valley Fair. UGH!

I also expect to see a lot of thefts of these.

The use I see is exactly why people hate them. Filming morons, shysters and assholes being themselves as they get in your grill or back into your car then ask you about your insurance.

If you can see the use for a Dashboard cam. These are just more versatile for the purpose. They would need to be attached better to replace a go pro.

I can see them as a HUD/GPS for walking or your car. Doing the same things that a smart watch does but without taking your eyes off what you are doing.

Also, Rather than using something like the Occulus Rift (where you can't see the world around you) I can also see the use where you take a design and overlay it on the real world so you can see both your design and the environment. That would let you do a much more effective "Plan in hand" review."

Annoying thin skinned people who love to be offended is just a bonus.

Couldn't agree more that these glasses will make you an instant douche-bag...

Too true. I can't say that I felt comfortable when I encountered a glasshole in what would technically be a private area. And, like a good little supercilious dbag, he had the damned thing on.

Is that "Rockwell" guy hurting for cash? I ask because between the NSA revelations and the glassholes I expect that he'll be flush due to royalties from his "I always feel like somebody's watchin' me" song.

I'll be first in line to get one of these things... when they drop to $300

Google has proven that people are indeed Morons. Why should Beta Testes have to pay to beta test Google's products? I guess morons with money want to pay for the privilege of being the first. Anyways, I'm not paying $1500 for Google Glass. No Thanks. You should be paying me to wear that silly thing on my face. Also, been wondering how this device will work with people who already have glasses.

avatar

vrmlbasic

My guess is that they saw that AAA game makers have been being paid by "beta testers" for years now and decided to get in on that.

Mikey109105

I had a "YAY" moment. At first. Then I saw Google is still making participants shell out upwards of 1 grand just to TEST the thing. I guarantee you the price of these will go up to something like 3 grand when they come out of testing. Any way for the scum at Google to grab an extra quick buck.

if it were crapple, it would be perfectly acceptable huh ? because you know they totally deserve their "premium" price that is in line with all other contract phones. I've never understood how $199 is "premium"

avatar

jbitzer

who mentioned apple? But it is nice having a phone that I don't have to force close apps on all day.

On topic, they can keep glass, at any price.

avatar

acidic

my point was that the $1500 isn't justifiable as only a crapple product could possibly be worth that kind of money. you know with all the "value" and "prestige" that only a macolyte can appreciate. we all know that this would be a completely different story if crapple were at the helm instead of google

avatar

jbitzer

No, your point is to just throw out an Apple bashing troll comment. Otherwise there is no point, Apple's prices have nothing to do with this being an overpriced gimmick. Also D+ for originality, crapple, really? You're just like the trolls on every news channel forum blaming everything on ObaMao, or Obummer, or whatever other stupid variation of the name they can come up with, good try, but you can't derail this so easily into a PC/Mac flame fest.

vrmlbasic

Not from me it wouldn't be.

If Tim Cook weren't crazy, if Apple weren't just as close with the NSA as Google, if iOS 7.1 didn't suck and if Apple's mobile hardware weren't so woefully inferior I would consider switching to them from Android as Google is ridiculous.
