Acer S271HL: Ultra-Slim LED Monitor with a 100,000,000:1 Contrast Ratio

Acer today unveiled its new S271HL S1 series monitor, an ultra-slim LED display with a scant 24mm profile and a rounded glossy porcelain-like foot stand. It has a 27-inch panel with a Full HD 1080p (1920x1080 @ 60Hz) resolution, but its real claim to fame is its 100,000,000:1 contrast ratio (dynamic, of course), along with a super fast 2ms response time.

The space saving design, impressive spec sheet, and and large screen panel combine to form a panel suitable for both work and play, according to Acer, though if you're into serious graphics work, a Twisted Nematic (TN) display is probably not on your radar. Nevertheless, for the working stiff who doesn't require an IPS panel, the S271HL S1 is dressed (on paper) to impress.

"Featuring outstanding dynamic contrast ratio of 100,000,000:1 optimized by Acer Adaptive Contrast Management, the S271HL renders razor-sharp images with rich colors through the enhancement of detail and gradation in bright or dim scenes," Acer says . "This allows users to view heavy data files or CAD applications with exceptional precision and sharp defined lines. The ultra-fast response time helps avoiding the blurring effect in fast paced videos or games"

Connectivity options consist of analog, DVI (with HDCP support), and HDMI. Viewing angles are rated at 170 degrees (H) and 160 degrees (V).

We're told the S271HL will ship at the end of April in the U.K. for £229 (~$359). No word on when it will land stateside or for how much.
