I was just in the market for a boutique mini itx computer as it needed to be small to transport on airplane. Here is the problem with the Bolt 2 and why I passed. First off that horrid dvd drive on the front, that alone is a no go, never use this media for years. Next all the other boutiques are guilty of this like falcon etc, they use standard power supplies and the huge mess of cables that come with them. What this means is a pack of ugly packed in huge cables that no one needs inside. Now look inside the Alienware x51 and they have nice little cables that fit perfectly like a laptop. Also the Falcon is grossly overpriced and the Digital Bolt not far behind. So what is the answer if you want tech support and a warranty? I went with the node 304! No ugly and space killing optical drive. I went with a slim cable kit and modular powersupply from silverstone. My cabling looks like a laptop! In fact I have a huge plastic bag stuffed with huge ugly unused cables. I have a 780gtx, one ssd and my modular power supply with a full size air cooler! Tons of space as no cables in the way of anything. Now on a down note the computer is not operating and some usb ports never worked and maybe one of the fans not spiining. I live in S America so have to wait till I get to California to have a computer shot trouble shoot! I ordered from avadirect.com so will wait and see how good their warranty support is. If you live overseas I only recommend you get an Alienware or Dell as they will come to your house and fix!!! NO one else will! I am moving back to the Usa otherwise I would already be regretting my 2200 dollar ava direct purchase. Do no buy a bolt, falcon, maingear or whatever. Call up an avadirect, or better yet a local shop and go with the slim cable kit and modular powersupply and you can then fit any video card you want in a mini itx case and save around 400 bucs over the other boutiques and have it exactly the way you want. Believe me you do not want the standard powersupplies and cables they come with, they stuff the case full like a jackolantern so when you open it up good luck trying any maintenance. Wish I could post a picture of the non existent wiring I have in my node. It also fits in a roll on duffel bag for plane trips etc, if I could do it again I may go with the sg07, just a little smaller and more interesting looking. Oh I forgto it is not an option to leave off dvd on the bolt or falcon etc, I asked.

Normally I'd be firmly in the "built it yourself" camp, but this custom case changes that angle slightly. Good move on the part of Digital Storm. I've never purchased a desktop from any vendor though, so it's still a pretty hard sell especially at that price, ouch!

I would think a few 1TB SSDs could change my mind, but then the price would be in the $4400 range. My next gaming system won't have mechanical hard drives, something I expect from these builds now. Due to my Steam collection 'problem' I'd like that drive to be at least a terabyte.

This might be the perfect thing for a dorm kid who already has everything, or a system that will be tied to a TV.

Notice NO MENTION of 'Steam Box' ...

You got proof or are you just being a twat?

I certaintly did not call you any names so do not call me any. To answer your question i do have proof of my opinion but that is none of your business.

Probably works for Falcon Northwest ;) ... but now my smarmy comment fed the troll and I feel bad.

Yet another name calling user. Falcon Northwest is too expensive for my taste but i dont know much about that company.

You want so badly to be offended, should probably get that looked at. The comment was a troll because it was inflammatory and unsubstantiated. Welcome to being called out on it, also being called out on over-sensitivity.

"that thing is too expensive" = not a troll
"that thing sucks" = totally a troll

Since intent and inflection can't be read into sentences online, we're left with the words typed. So they matter more than people are used to.

Someone asking you if you're a tool, an idiot or a millennial doesn't equate to being called one. Although those questions can be said in a way to imply that is what the writer thinks of you. At which point you'd be forcing intent in order to feel persecuted and offended.

If you want to be offended, you will find a way to be.

So stating my opinion that Digital Storm sucks means im a troll? Interesting.

There is a large difference between "sucks" and "too expensive"

If you choose to by hyperbolic and inflammatory in your first comment after signing up, you are going to be called names.

I agree that there is a large difference between "sucks" and "too expensive". The fact that I think Digital Storm sucks and Falcon Northwest is too expensive and get called names for it is quite interesting.

avatar

The Mac

You were called names for your VERY FIRST POST ON THIS SITE saying a vendor sucks without any form of explanation, not for saying falcon is too expensive.

Its the very definition of trolling.

Again, stating my opinion that i think Digital Storm sucks calls for name calling is interesting and because i didn't provide an explanation to you seems to mean i am a troll. The explanation of why i think Digital Storm sucks is not anyone's business. I should be able to state my opinion on something without being called names.

You can do whatever you wish, expect to be called names.

Nimrod does stuff like that all the time, we call him names too

Thats an awesome small PC. Would be great for lan parties. A bit overprice (maybe $200 more) but keep in mind that you have warranty on it. I definitely see a market for small PCs where people often moved their PCs around and carrying a big box a around is an inconvenience. I think people will rather buy just the case in this site where as normal consumers will not bother building and just pay the extra, though I would rather have consumers buy custom builds than just buy badly specced HP, Dells, etc, that are overpriced for what they do.
