The 3597LMTHD Garmin GPS is a wonder as it does most of these with voice commands that actually work and can be left mounted in the car and ready to go instantly. Multiple destinations search for food and gas can be done automatically, and it keeps the damn phone in my pocket where it belongs.

The most important tip of all: use Google Maps classic instead of that abortive, user-hostile mess of a rewrite which the pack of progressive kiddies locked in the code basement foisted upon us last year.

^This. The new Google maps ought to be in UI design textbooks as an example of a horrid UI.

I was wondering if there were a way to do multiple destinations on the mobile app. Thanks for confirming that there is not.

BTW, hack #12 could be how to turn off, on the desktop, the (completely ineffective and counterintuitive) new Google Maps and use Classic Maps instead. Until I found out that such was possible I had to use Bing Maps.

Great post. I genuinely didn't know about half these features.

I can't speak to anything besides number 11, but it's completely horrible. Trying to change your route changes it from a fairly straightforward, 10 mile trip into a labyrinthine, 74 mile route that has you retracing your steps a dozen times.
